Cheetham is champion

Writer: raymondpowleyraymondpowley

The single final took place on the 23rd August between Ady Cheetham and, last year’s runner up, John Machin. The weather was overcast and muggy. Ady Cheetham won the toss and began the match. He took the first end and carried on building his lead. John Machin unfortunately was having an absolute nightmare of a match. He tried everything he knew but nothing went his way. Ady Cheetham went serenely on his way and he finished the match, winning 20 points to 6. Many congratulations to Ady who started the competition as a rank outsider, only in his second season of bowling, and finished as champion. Our commiserations to John who had played well in the run-in to the final. He greatly contributed to a successful, high standard, competition.
