Archer v Cheetham classic

The weather was fine as the two opponents got ready to begin in the quarter final of the singles competition. The scorer Colin Edgington tossed the coin, Ady Cheetham won and sent the jack down the green. The game was on! Played over 18 ends, the match was nip and tuck most of the way. At one point Brian Archer went 4 points ahead but could not hold on and the match was soon all square again. The players arrived at the 18th end with Brian Archer 2 points in front and nailed on favourite to win but Ady Cheetham played out of his skin and managed to get the 2 points to bring him level. The match went to extra ends. Ady, with rising confidence, won the first extra end and marched on to the semi-final where he will meet Joe Hurley. Both player played very well and contributed to a very enjoyable match.
